I haven’t published a post in so many months that I feel like I owe you an explanation. Of course, I’ll spare you all the details, but I know you’ll understand when I say that, "things just got in the way". Or as Marsha Brady would tell you, “Something suddenly came up!” Lots of "suddens" occurred since January and in varying degrees of joyful, annoying and tragic but all fitting someone’s description of the meaning of life.
One of the major happy events was the one year anniversary of Ladies Who Tennis! Thank you all for for supporting me with your words of encouragement over the past 12 months. I hope you continue to follow me and find yourselves and others you know in the stories I share.
And on a personal note, I’ve been seeing a chiropractor for all my tennis-related joint and muscle pain. I’ve let you in on a little bit of my troubles in a previous post (A Sight For Sore Muscles). As if struggling to find a way to cover passing shots down the alley isn’t hard enough, I’ve also been grappling with chronic shin splints! I’ve tried every remedy I’ve come across including oral CBD oil which, if you haven’t tried it yet, tastes exactly like what you might imagine licking the bottom of a dirty aquarium would taste like. But I’ve since been told that there are several better options out there. Hopefully, they meant “better tasting”! So, the only thing I can say with certainty that gives me some hope for pain-free tennis are the sessions I have with my chiropractor. I’m not trying to promote his business, I’m just telling you that the adjustments are helping me and hopefully my experience will aide you if you are in a similar situation. So if you’re interested, just contact me if you’d like his info.
The spring tennis season has begun! Here in the ATL, you can tell by the thick blanket of pollen that covers the courts and anything that it comes in contact with. There’s nothing like inhaling a throat-full of seed plant microgametophytes as you rush to the baseline to catch up with a deep lob. It’s similar to inhaling the powdered sugar off of a donut as you bite into it. And the coughing fit which ensues is just as frenetic.
So, good luck this season! I am working on 2 posts at the moment. Currently titled, “The Voice Let” and “Double-Bounce Trouble”. Look for them. They’ll be out soon!
Remember…Play hard. Have fun. No drama. (Who am I kidding? There will always be drama for Ladies Who Tennis!)
